About Our Clinical Standards

At Calm or Call, our mission is to provide US residents with fast, evidence-based guidance during moments of medical uncertainty. We bridge the gap between “worrying at home” and “waiting in the ER” by providing clear, clinical logic in under 60 seconds.

Our Sources of Truth

The triage logic used in this application is not arbitrary. It is strictly mapped against established US clinical protocols and guidelines from the following institutions:

  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) — for guidance on infectious diseases, fever protocols, and emergency preparedness. cdc.gov
  • American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) — for clinical pathways regarding chest pain, respiratory distress, and neurological symptoms. acep.org
  • American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) via HealthyChildren.org — for pediatric triage logic and neonatal fever standards. healthychildren.org

How Our AI Triage Works

Our tool guides users through a series of targeted questions about symptom severity, onset, and warning signs.

  • ER vs. Urgent Care Logic: The system is designed to distinguish between life-threatening emergencies requiring an ER visit and non-emergent conditions suitable for Urgent Care or home management.
  • The Fahrenheit Standard: We utilize the 100.4°F (38°C) clinical threshold for pediatric fevers as recommended by the CDC.
  • Red Flag Detection: Our tool prioritizes “Red Flag” symptoms such as the FAST test for stroke (Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty) and signs of anaphylaxis.

Privacy and HIPAA Alignment

We believe that your health data belongs to you.

  • 100% Anonymous: We do not require sign-ups, email addresses, or insurance information.
  • No Data Storage: We do not store your symptom inputs or link them to your identity.
  • No Data Selling: Your information is never shared with or sold to third parties or insurance providers.
