Privacy Policy – Calm or Call (US)
Last Updated: May 2026⚠ Calm or Call does not replace 911 or emergency medical services. If you or someone else is experiencing a medical emergency — including suspected heart attack, stroke, severe difficulty breathing, loss of consciousness, or uncontrolled bleeding — call 911 immediately and do not rely on this tool. Emergency responders can begin treatment on the way.
At Calm or Call, we take your privacy as seriously as your health. Because we deal with health-related inquiries, we have designed our platform around the principle of data minimization. This policy explains how we handle information when you use our US AI triage tool.
1. Our “Privacy-First” Commitment
Unlike many health platforms, Calm or Call does not require an account, name, or email address to provide a symptom assessment. We believe you should be able to get health guidance without sacrificing your privacy — especially when you are worried and vulnerable.
2. Information We DO NOT Collect
- Personally Identifiable Information (PII): We do not ask for, or store, your name, date of birth, address, Social Security Number, or phone number.
- Protected Health Information (PHI): Your symptom inputs are not linked to your real-world identity and are not stored as a health record.
- IP Addresses (identifiable): We anonymize IP addresses in our analytics so your precise location cannot be traced back to you personally.
- Insurance or Billing Information: We do not request or store any insurance, payment, or billing data at any point.
3. Information We DO Process
To provide the AI assessment and improve our service, we process:
- Symptom Inputs: The selections you make during a triage session. This data is processed in real-time to generate a recommendation and is not retained after your session ends.
- Technical Data: Browser type, device type, and general region (state-level, never precise location). Used solely to optimize site performance.
- Aggregated Usage Patterns: Which questions are asked most frequently, to help us improve the clinical accuracy of our triage logic.
4. HIPAA Alignment
We do not sell, rent, or license any health-related information to third parties, advertisers, or data brokers.
5. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides you with specific rights regarding your personal information. Because we collect only anonymized, non-identifiable data, most CCPA provisions are not triggered. However, you have the right to:
- Know what categories of personal information, if any, we collect about you.
- Request deletion of personal information (note: we retain no identifiable data).
- Opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
To submit a CCPA request, contact us at privacy@calmorcall.com.
6. Cookies & Third-Party Services
We use a limited number of cookies for the following purposes:
- Analytics: We use Google Analytics with IP anonymization enabled to understand aggregate site traffic. No personally identifiable data is transmitted.
- Advertising (AdSense): We may display ads. Our advertising partners may use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising via aboutads.info or your browser’s privacy settings.
- Affiliate Links: If you click an affiliate link, a cookie may be set by the affiliate provider to track referral commissions. No health data is shared in this process.
We obtain your consent for non-essential cookies via our cookie consent banner before any tracking begins.
7. Data Security & Storage
All communications between your device and our servers are encrypted using SSL/TLS. Our servers are hosted within the United States on platforms that maintain SOC 2 compliance. Because we collect no identifiable health records, there is no sensitive data store that could expose your personal health history.
8. Data Sharing
We do not sell your data. We only share anonymized information with:
- Service Providers: Cloud hosting and analytics partners who are contractually bound to data protection standards and are prohibited from using your data for their own purposes.
- Legal Authorities: Only if required by applicable US law or valid legal process. As we hold no identifiable data, there is nothing to disclose in most circumstances.
9. Children’s Privacy (COPPA)
Calm or Call is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If a parent or guardian believes a child under 13 has submitted information through our tool, please contact us immediately at privacy@calmorcall.com.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page reflects when changes were last made. Continued use of Calm or Call after an update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
